Jennifer Short (Gnau)

deb, i am so glad you feel better. antibiotics working i guess??

03/16/09 01:18 PM #3701

Vicki Short (Bumann)

Yeah, Debi is better. Call me after you go to the doctor and let me know what is happening.

Yeah, Mickey. You call me, also, when you hear your results.

Yeah, Lisa. I am glad you watched The Secret (Sherri left her copy for you) and that your CARDS won and were seeded #1 in the country. Hope Scot is better and at work today.

Yeah, Donn. You have found some thought-provoking stories. I had heard a different one about a donkey. I will try to find it. It wasn't inspirational, but it was too funny. How is my brother, Johnny. You see him several times a week. Tell him I said hello.

Yeah, Cara. Sorry about Jerome. I hope the stint gets him back in action soon. Scary stuff.

Yeah, David. You do great quotes that touch us all.

Yeah, Kristie. Get back in the recliner and rest and take care of yourself like the doctor said.

Yeah, Andrew. Your foot is better and you have started your autobiography. I wil buy a copy when it is completed.

Yeah, Zack. You work hard at school and at sports.

Yeah, Nicole. You are getting your house together, day by day.

Yeah, Johanna. It is almost your wedding day.

Yeah, Tori. Does you hair look beautiful now?

Yeah, Sarah. Your jokes are funny.

Yeah, Sherri. I wish I had stayed another month.

Yeah, Jennifer. You take care of your boys.

Yeah, Jamie. Baby ET is growing and thriving under your excellent care.

Yeah, plants. The forsynthias, crocuses, daffodils, Tulip Populars, are showing their colors. The daylilies are about 6 inches tall. Lots of buds on trees.

Mickey and Cara's yard has been raked, the leaves were a good blanket for their garden, and it looks wonderful.

WE NEED TO SET UP A WORK DETAIL FOR THEM BECAUSE MICKEY WILL BE UNABLE TO WORK OUT THERE THIS YEAR AND CARA CANNOT DO IT ALL. WE WILL NEED WEED PULLERS, MULCH SPREADERS, AND PLANT CULTIVATORS. WHO IS WILLING?

Yeah, to the rest of you who hardly ever say anything on this screen. I know you are thinking of us.

Today's message from my Perpetual Calendar.

Get up. No, just kidding.

THE REAL JOY OF LIFE IS IN ITS PLAY. PLAY IS ANYTHING WE DO FOR THE JOY AND LOVE OF DOING IT. IT IS THE REAL LIVING OF LIFE WITH THE FEELING OF FREEDOM AND SELF-EXPRESSION.

WALTER RAUSCHENBUSCH, WHOEVER HE IS, SAID THIS.

GO

OUT

AND

PLAY

TODAY.

...and tomorrow, too. It will be sunnier and warmer!

Yea Vicki: For cheering us on

Yea Vicki: for volunteering to take care of Mickey's flowers...they could not be in better hands!

Sherri Short (Chappell)

Hello to all. Boring here after leaving so many of you in Kentucky.

Weather is good. We need rain badly. Maybe tonight.

Will have to call Nicole soon and go see her new house.

No news from Mickey's doctor yet.

Hopefully no news is good news.

03/16/09 04:06 PM #3706

Sherri Short (Chappell)

I watched another good movie. It is the first of the three movies from the makers of FIREPROOF.

FLYWHEEL, FACING THE GIANTS, FIREPROOF.

THEY ARE ALL VERY GOOD MOVIES TO WATCH.

Sherri Short (Chappell)

Nick and I went to see LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT. Don't go and see it (very disturbing). Much worse than the one 30 years ago. Definitely not a mother and son movie.

Sherri Short (Chappell)

I am all alone here, so gotta go. Love to all.

Cara Patterson (Short)

We got the results of Mickey's MRI today. They said there is still some infection there, but it's nothing dangerous. The neurosurgeon (Dr. Reiss) is sending him to an orthopedic spine surgeon (Dr. Glassman - Letherman Spine Ctr) because when they do the surgery they will do it in conjunction with him to do anything else that needs to be done. He will see the OSS on Friday morning. Soooo, looks like another surgery and the nurse said they would want to get it taken care of soon.

He goes to the Infectious Disease office tomorrow for labs and Dr. Aktar will let us know if he will continue antibiotics. Pain Management doctor Wednesday and back to Dr. Aktar on Thursday and then to the OSS Friday morning - busy week ahead! He'll be wore out by the weekend.

Thanks for all the prayers. Keep it up.

Debra Lou Short (Dissell)

Mickey,
Well it is GREAT that the infection is under control! That is a step in the right direction! I know the idea of another surgery is devastating but if that is what it takes to get back to normal, then I say the sooner the better. Please keep your chin up and know that you will be soo much better soon. You have been through two surgeries when you were deathly ill so this time will be a breeze!I Love You!

Cara Patterson (Short)

I just went back and read the email from Vicki - thanks for the request for volunteers to work in the yard! I don't use mulch so no mulch spreaders needed - everything we have are perennials that are coming back - we transplanted a lot of things last year to spread them out some so I think it's under control for the time being. A little more cleaning up to do but I can work on it on the days I take off to take Mickey to the doctor. Supposed to have some really good days this week. I spent all weekend cleaning inside so I'd have time to work outside this week. I love working in the yard - it's my therapy.

Love you all - thanks again for all your support!

Debra Lou Short (Dissell)

Tori, why was Aunt Vicki talking about your hair?

03/16/09 07:34 PM #3713

Debra Lou Short (Dissell)

Vicki, is this the donkey (mule) story you were thinking of:

A man was lost while driving through the country. As he tried to reach for a map, he accidentally drove off the road into a ditch. Though he wasn't injured, his car was stuck deep in the mud. So the man walked to a nearby farm and asked for help.
"Warwick can get you out of that ditch," said the farmer, pointing to an old mule standing in the field. The man looked at the decrepit old mule and looked at the farmer who just stood there repeating, "yep, old Warwick can do the job." The man figured he had nothing to lose. The two men and the mule made their way back to the ditch. The farmer hitched the mule to the car. With a snap of the reins, he shouted, "Pull Fred! Pull, Jack! Pull, Ted! Pull, Warwick!" And the mule pulled the car right out of the ditch. The man was amazed. He thanked the farmer, patted the mule, and asked, "Why did you call out all of those names before you called Warwick?" The farmer grinned and said, "Old Warwick is just about blind. As long as he believes he's part of a team, he doesn't mind pulling."

Hope you enjoy!

David Short

quote of the d o double dizz ah

Expecting the world to treat you fairly
because you are a good person
is a little like expecting the bull not to attack you
because you are a vegetarian.

03/16/09 11:22 PM #3719

Debra Lou Short (Dissell)

David, love the quote...you make me laugh!

Lisa, that is good to hear. I was afraid you got all of her hair cut off.
You do not necessarily need a desk job...just some rest time each day.

Zach, sounds like a great game. Hope you had fun while working so hard! Was Kyle there?

03/16/09 11:28 PM #3720

Debra Lou Short (Dissell)

Just heard from Marisa...Love to all of you!

03/17/09 10:21 AM #3721

Vicki Short (Bumann)

Ok, Cara, just trying to help in the garden. Believe me, I have enough to do in my own. Finally going to downsize; too much to take care of, and that makes it tedious.

03/17/09 10:23 AM #3722

Vicki Short (Bumann)

David:

You used that quote before, but there is nothing that sats it was not needed again. Keep it up.

I'd be a vegetarian if I thought I could lose weight and keep it off, but I do not want to spend my time dodging the bull.

03/17/09 10:25 AM #3723

Vicki Short (Bumann)

Tori:
So your hair looks good? You are old enough to brush it every day by yourself. Then you can fix it any way you like. Your mom can still put it in a ponytail or
French-braid it. I used to French-braid your Great Aunt Susan's hair all the time.

Put cute little barrettes in it to keep it out of your face. You are so pretty.

03/17/09 10:28 AM #3724

Vicki Short (Bumann)

Debi:

Glad Marisa called. Did she have a graduation date? Will she try to come home this summer? Has she applied to the colleges she is thinking about?

HOW ARE YOU AT WORK TODAY? FEELING OK? I KNOW THEY MISSED YOU. YOU, TOO, NEED TO REMEMBER TO REST.
