Cara Patterson (Short)

Hey Vickie - The flowers at Mom's do look really good. Now if we could just get the grass cut. It's taller than the flowers. The first time is going to need a riding mower for sure. I have some of the Iris' that are from her yard that I was going to take over and replant. Maybe we can get together over there sometime soon to see what all we have. There are still some things still to come up - 4'o'clocks and friendship flowers. I think the front bed got a little too full last year, so probably will need to be thinned out or rearranged a little. I still need to finish weeding on around the side of the porch and around the tree - not sure what is in that. Get with Mickey to work out when you want to do it. We can help but I'm sure with your creative mind your ideas will be great.

Love ya! Mickey & Cara

A little perspective. ..Mayonnaise jar & Two Beers...

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.
When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full.
They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full.
The students responded with a unanimous 'yes.'
The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed..
'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things---your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.
The sand is everything else---the small stuff.
'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Spend time with your children.
Spend time with your parents.
Visit with grandparents.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your spouse out to dinner.
Play another 18.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the lawn mower.
Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter.
The rest is just sand.
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented.
The professor smiled and said, 'I'm glad you asked.'
The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.
Please share this with someone you care about. *I JUST DID!*

Be who you are and say what you feel. Those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. -- Dr. Seuss

Guess I just missed you. I did not do anything to Mom's flowerbed except look at it. Cara and Mickey were responsible for the flowers! I enjoyed Zack and Kyle's game. Zack got a good hit and Kyle smacked one to left field. Go, boys! What a great night for a ball game. Went to Alec's soccer game today. He kicks the ball well and the guys love to bounce it off their heads. I do not know if I like it better when they hit it or they miss it. They are so funny. The wind was great SmileyCentral.com or they would have been sooooooooo hot out there. Another wonderful day in the neighborhood. Later.....Canasta time.

happy birthday aunt vicki!!!! Thank you everybody for birthday greetings. Lisa, i forgive you. yes we do have crazy lives, but in 10 years we will be bored and missing our kids and crazy ball schedules. so when you feel overwhelmed stop and think how lucky we are to have healthy, active children who run us ragged. Evans birthday party was so much fun. It's hard to believe how far he has come, time goes so fast. I am so proud of Brandon and Jamie, they are great parents. For the March Of Dimes walk, everyone is welcome to walk, there is also a place on the website if anyone would like to make a donation. We know first hand what great work they do, and it is only possible with the fund raising they do.
