Debi & Donn - Mickey enjoyed your visit today. Sorry I missed you. I went to work for a little while, and then brought some home so left the hospital a little early so I could work tonight. He's doing really good today. He feels a lot better since they drained that fluid off and gave him the Lasix. Ankles are back to normal again! It was between the lung and chest wall. His doctors are still puzzled about what caused it. The pulmonologist (Dr. Baker) said it could be just some residual fluid from the previous surgery. The blood cultures aren't showing anything yet - which is good. His BP is still running low at times and he had a seizure again last night. The neurologist increased his seizure meds yesterday - just a little bit. He'll keep him on the same dose for a while. The test on Monday will show the condition of the aortic valve and then they will decide about the heart surgery. The surgery will have to be done, but until the test comes back don't really know how bad it is leaking and whether the infection is still there. That will decide how soon they will schedule that and whether they will transfer him to Jewish Hosp or if he will come home and then they'll schedule it later.

Max Lucado: HE STILL MOVES STONES (Paraphrased from this book)

Faith: A conviction that He can and a hope that He will.

"Without faith no one can please God. Anyone who comes to God must believe that He is real and that He rewards those who truly want to find Him." Hebrews 11:6

Max writes, "Faith is not the belief that God will do waht you want. Gaith is the belief that God will do waht is right."

Max says, "God says that the more hopeless your circumstance, the more likely your salvation. The greater your cares, the more genuine your prayers. The darker the room, the greater the need for light."

Max continues, "Healing begins when we do something. Healing begins when we reach out. Healing starts when we take a step."

Max is on a roll in this chapter. He still writes... "God's helpis near and always available, but it is only given to those who seek it." ONE GESTURE. "Our part is minuscule, but necessary. We don't have to do much, but we have to do something."

Write a letter.
Ask forgiveness.
Call a counselor.
Confess.
Call Mom.
Visit a doctor.
Be baptised.
Feed a hungry person.
Teach.
Go.
Pray.
Or Pray.
And then Pray some more.

I'll conclude with some of his additional words, "Do something that demonstrates faith. For faith with no effort is no faith at all. GOD WILL RESPOND. He has never rejected a genuine gesture of faith. Never.

No "peeps" as Sarah would say. Anyhow, I sent this to the LIBERAL Courier Journal "Letter to the Editor" page. It will be interesting to see if they print it. "Pray" that they do put it in print.

True, it is only one day of the year, but it is shameful that the new president has chosen to deny this seemingly small, Christian honor. It is a right and privilege that we need not have challenged in these trying times, especially when other religions press for their needs to be met. Christians pray daily and we pray at all hours and times of the day. Privately, simple and complex prayers are offered up to God. Jesus prayed privately and Jesus also witnessed and prayed publicly. We are to do no less than our Lord and Savior, The Son of God. I beg you, Christian brothers and sisters, unite to pray, and to spread the message of salvation for it is IN GOD WE TRUST. ********************************************************

THE GRANDMA TEST

I was out walking with my four-year-old granddaughter.
She picked up something off the ground and started to put it
in her mouth. I took the item away from her and asked her
not to do that.

"Why?" she asked.

"Because it's been on the ground; you don't know where
it's been, it's dirty, and probably has germs," I replied.

At this point, my granddaughter looked at me with total
admiration and asked, "Grandma, how do you know all this
stuff? You are so smart."

I was thinking quickly. "All Grandmas know this stuff.

"You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Grandma."

We walked along in silence for two or three minutes, but
she was evidently pondering this new information. "Oh .....

Wasn't that about the same time that an "Obama" type would be in the White House? I was sincere, but I would hope that the CJ would not censor because of religious affiliation. I will keep the faith and wait for the Opinion Page! Lisa, I knew it was not double letters; that was the first thing I looked for. I had never seen that before. How cool (KEWL) is that.

And about where my dollars have been. Gross, not a picture I want in my head. YUK!

.....and why don't Granddads have to take a test? Why do they get the "automatic" status? Go figure. WHAT A GLORIOUS DAY OUTSIDE. HOPE ALL GET TO ENJOY A LITTLE PART OF IT.

Mick did not get to go home. The nurse did not do her part and the antibiotic did not get there until late. If I am correct, the nurse did not get one of the doctors to sign off and then they could not reach him because he was not on call. Bummer. So our brother is spending one more night at the hospital. Sorry for any confusion. I COULD NOT RESIST................ Recession is when your neighbor loses his job. Depression is when you lose your job. Recovery is when Obama loses his job.

So sue me if I am politically incorrect. God puts them in power. God can take them from power. Come on God....I am on your team.

We asked the evening charge nurse to report the nurse who messed up. She also had his meds messed up. He had to ask for his automatic dose (every 8 hrs) at 5:30 because he was really hurting. She was supposed to have given it to him at 2:00 but she "went to lunch and then forgot". The evening nurse came in to give it to him at 10:00 and he told them he had it at 5:30. She had charted it that she had given it to him at 2:00. Not only did she not order the antibiotic that he was supposed to get at 7:30 before he went home, she had not done any of the discharge papers. Mickey went off on them when I asked them to go ahead and go over the D/C papers with us while he was doing his antibiotic so we could leave as soon as it was finished and found out she had not done anything. When the evening nurse went to do them, that's when she found out the Cardiologist had not been contacted to sign off. She's gonna be in TROUBLE tomorrow!!! If they know what's good for her, they better put her on a different floor until Mickey gets out of there tomorrow. They're supposed to call him 1st thing in the morning to get everything ready for him to go. We have an appt with the Infectious Disease group at 11:00am to get his antibiotics and pic line dressing changed. So.... he'll be home tomorrow! Yea!!!!

Game Day at our church on Sunday. Frank Reich, the NFL quarterback is speaking at the service. Free games, bouncy thingys, skateboard ramp, cornhole, bocci ball, video games inside, Quitar Man or Drum Man video game-type things, balloon man, dodge ball, climbing wall
