Bruce Crimmins died our last year of High School in 1968. He drowned diving in a frozen lake - very tragic. I kept in touch with his family, and his Dad had a graduation dinner for me.
I still keep in contact with his sister Jan Crimmins Steier. She and her husband and daughter live in Louisville still.
John died diving Tuckers Lake with a classmate buddy but I do not rember who. I do remember leaving the school building with my cousin Dave (Hoagland) and saying to John that I would see him Monday to find out how the dive went. I tell (a shortened version of) the story to my students, I am never shure if they believe it or not. I am not sure if I would if someone told me a story such as that.
I believe that accident involved a guy from class of '69 or '70 named Mike Schomer or Mike Schumer. Seems as if there were three involved, maybe one got out alive. Memory is foggy now.
Bruce Crimmins and Michael "Mike" Shomer both drowned on a Sunday afternoon while scuba diving under ice. Mike was a junior that year. Their good friend Bob Schulten from our class was there with them, but not diving. The following link will take you to a site with a newspaper article about this tragic event.

I'm so sorry to hear about Bruce. I too am a scuba diver, though I haven't been in years.

Clifford is correct. The other student that drown was Mike Schomer. He was a grade or two behind us.
