GARDNER:
Randy Gardner, 42, of Hampton, Va., and formerly of Loveland died Sept. 4, 2004, in Hampton.
He was born Feb. 1, 1962, in Greeley. He attended Loveland schools before moving to California with his family in 1972.
He joined the Air Force on Feb. 1, 1980, and retired after 20 years of service to his country. During his career he served as a crew chief with the Thunderbirds, which allowed him to travel extensively. He spent time at various bases in the United States and overseas and served during Operation Desert Storm.
After his retirement, he continued to work for BAE Systems/ESI at Langley AFB as a contractor providing Web site design support. He also volunteered his skills to create and maintain the original Web site for the Thunderbirds’ 50th anniversary celebration.
He married Lori Tuttle on Nov. 2, 1985, and was proud of their two sons. He enjoyed spending time with his family, Web site development and woodworking. He was a member of American Legion Post 31 in Hampton.
He is survived by his wife Lori and sons Justin and Jason, all of Hampton; mother Margaret Walker of Loveland; father and stepmother Gene and Joyce Gardner of Cheyenne, Wyo.; brothers Dan and wife Vera of Keenesburg, Colo., Tim and wife Robin of Holiday, Fla., and Stan and wife Kathy of Covington, Wash.; sisters Kathy Gardner of Loveland, Cindy Tyrrell of Denver and Sherry Fleming of Douglas; stepbrother David Christy and wife Kelly of Cheyenne; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles and aunts.
Cremation has been conducted and services were held in Hampton. A memorial service will also be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 2500 N. Garfield, Loveland.
R. Hayden-Smith Funeral Home of Hampton handled arrangements.
