Marlena passed away on Sept. 28, 2010. She was born on Oct. 17, 1967 to Julian Clifford "JC" and Rosita "Sandy" Gomez and was a lifelong resident of Lubbock, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father, Julian Clifford "JC" Gomez and one sister, Shelley Rae Gomez.
Marlena's life truly encapsulated the Christian Gospel. Her life was one of service to friends, family, and the community around her. Marlena volunteered for Meals on Wheels delivering meals in a taxi cab and was featured in the Lubbock AJ February 8th, 2008 in a full page story. The taxi cab delivery girl captured national attention and was a featured topic on CNN.
Survivors include her mother, Rosita "Sandy" Torres Gomez; two sisters, Michele Renee Gomez of Lubbock and Monica Elaine Gomez of Wichita Falls; one brother, Michael Ray Gomez of Lubbock; and five nephews.
I found this by doing a quick Google, I did not know Marlena but, it sounds like someone we should all strive to be like :)
