Sandra Jordan (CHS Faculty)

Sandra Jordan, 62, of Midland passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Ellis Funeral Home will host a gathering for family and friends on Friday, August 7, 2009 from 6 until 8 p.m. Celebration of Life services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Belview Baptist Church with Reverend Myron Unruh officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Sandra Speed Jordan was born on June 29, 1947 in New Iberia, La. to the late Alton and Frances Speed. The family moved to Midland in 1956. She graduated from Midland High School in 1965 and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1970. Sandra began her teaching career in Lubbock, and returned to Midland in 1986. She taught there until 2001, and then began teaching at Stanton High School. She was currently teaching her favorite subjects, geometry, algebra and math models. Sandra was a member of the Association of Texas Professional Educators and was treasurer of the Stanton chapter for the past two years.

When Sandra was not at Troy's school activities or teaching, she could be found reading or working on her cross-stitching, or sitting in her favorite chair with Suzy, watching UT football or golf.   

Survivors include her daughters, Jackie and husband Rodolfo Davila III of San Antonio and Stacy and husband Jeremy Garcia of Lubbock; sister, Cynthia and husband Mike Lovell of Midland; grandchildren, Frances Delia Davila and Rodolfo Samuel Davila IV of San Antonio, and Talon Parks Garcia, Laken Kale Garcia and Jaxon Levi Garcia of Lubbock; nephew, Ryan Lovell and wife Hillary and their daughter, Katie, of Midland; and niece, Amber Lovell of San Antonio. She is also survived by a very special grandson, Troy Davis Evans, who resided with her.
