Helen Caffey ((CHS Faculty))

Services for Helen Caffey, 79, of Lubbock, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Mills officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock.

She died Saturday, June 30, 2001.

She was born Oct. 6, 1921, in Denton County and married Henry Caffey on April 24, 1943, in Lubbock. He died Dec. 19, 1978. She received her bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in 1943 and later received her master's in education from Texas Tech in 1970. She taught at Coronado High School, where she served as head of the history department. She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a past president of the United Methodist Women. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Methodist Hospital.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Burns and Fran Foster, both of Lubbock; two sons, Tom and Richard, both of Lubbock; a sister, Hazel Newberry of Lubbock; a brother, Ural F. Wells of Morton; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
