Jaycie Brown

Jaycie Dannielle Brown died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, near Twin Falls, Idaho.

She was born March 27, 1975, in Lubbock. She attended Roscoe Wilson Elementary School, where she was on the first Odyssey of Mind team during fifth grade. During sixth grade, she placed sixth in the Odyssey World competition. In ninth grade, she was voted most beautiful at Slaton Junior High. She was a 1993 graduate of Lubbock High School, where she was on the drum line for three years. She danced with the Western Union dancers for three years and played competitive softball with Team Texas Blue and Green for three years.

She received a bachelor's degree in restaurant, hotel and institutional management from Texas Tech University in 1999. She was a manager for Johnny Carino's Italian Kitchen in Lubbock, New Braunfels and Boise, Idaho.

Survivors include her parents, Anita and Jimmy Tipton of Lubbock; a brother, Curtis of Lubbock; a sister, Lia of Lubbock; her grandparents, James I. Jenkins and Bill and Blanche Tipton, all of Lubbock, and Wanda and Jess Sanders of Wichita, Kansas; and her great-grandmother, Christena Prindle.

The family suggests memorials to the Jaycie Brown Scholarship Fund at Texas Tech University RHIM program. Donations for it can be made to Vickie Willkerson with Fired Up in Austin.
