Mary VanKauwenberg (Falish)

Gone but not forgotten!

Mary Ellen Falish, 66, Suring, formerly of Green Bay, died Wednesday, September 12, 2018. She was born on October 3, 1951, in Green Bay to Robert Van Kauwenberg and Elaine Smith.

Mary was a graduate of Luxemburg-Casco High School, Class of 1970. She married Joseph Falish at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on August 8, 1970. Mary worked at Diana Mfg. and then helped to start up Kohl's Dept. Store and Walgreens on the corner of Baird and E. Mason, where she worked primarily in jewelry and cosmetics; making people look and feel good. Mary lent her stewardship in many ways, and truly enjoyed her time as a Scout Leader and Religious Education Teacher.

Mary raised Cocker Spaniels as show dogs, as well as trained, groomed, and bred them with her husband at their family owned business, Jo-Mar's Kennels. She was a member of the American Kennel Club and Packerland Kennel Club. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting, and crafting. Above all, she loved being a wife, mother, and adored her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her husband of 48 years, Joseph; children, Joe Falish, Paul (Rebecca) Falish, Jeramie Falish, and Keith (Lora) Falish; grandchildren, Coty, Cyle, Cortney, Lauren, Nolan, Quinn, Reese, Dawson, Levi, Brooklyn, and Peyton; great-grandchildren, Zoey, Baileigh; her siblings, Robert (Carol) LeCaptain, Mike (Diane) Van Kauwenberg, Chuck Smith, Mark Van Kauwenberg, Craig (Amy) Van Kauwenberg, Suzie Hanamann; her father and stepmother, Robert (Ellie) Van Kauwenberg; her in-laws, Carla Falish, Laverne (Dave) Charlier, John (Debbie) Falish, Shirley (Mickey) Tillman, Beverly (Dan) DePas, Tina (Bruce) Mattern, Wayne (Diane) Falish, Gail Smith (Dave) and Marvin (Jeanne) Falish.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elaine Smith; brothers, Les LeCaptain and Bill Smith; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Verna Falish; and brother-in-law, Norman Falish.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, followed by a Parish Wake Service at 7 p.m. Friends may also call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the church.
