Denise E. Balk Stewart

Went to BGSU for two years, transfered to Boston U (to be near Bill Stewart-yes,he invited me), graduated in Secondary Ed and taught Jr and Sr High School for seven years in three states. Moved back to Cleveland in 1984 and raised a son and daughter in close proximity to four grandparents-what a blessing. Ran the Education program at church, led the youth group and started a custom wall treatment business called Climbin' the Walls. In 1999, I went back to school at the Cleveland Institute of Art and got my BFA in Printmaking in 2006. I am a working artist with a studio at Zygote Press on E 30th Street and also manage the gallery at the Valley Art Center in Chagrin Falls, OH. I love living in Cleveland.

I remember having to lip sync a song for Speech class. I was so scared but everyone had to do it, so that made it a little less frightening.
Later, someone was nice enough to invite me to be a part of a dance group for Brown and Gold. What fun.
I regret now, that I wasn't willing to take some risks. I wish I'd been in drama and chorus.
I loved art even then and remember hearing the band practice outside before games during last period. We had a great band!
