Sunday Picnic Update
Posted Monday, July 26, 2010 06:27 PM

Hi Everyone,

We have found that a lot of classmates, including myself, are taking out of town guests to the airport on the Sunday after.

However, we have checked Lyndhurst park and they are on a first come first serve basis.  So, we were thinking of an informal picnic.  A bring your own dish type affair.

I will not be able to get there until 10:30 or 11:00

If there is enough interest we would need someone to get to the park and reserve a couple of tables for the event.

Let me know if there is anyone willing to take on this task.

I will also make an announcement at the reunion to gage any interest.

Don't forget that Lyndhurst pool is open so if anyone wants to go swimming bring your suite.

Larry

Lyndhurst Park on Brainard or by the police station? I may be able to help. What time should someone go there, how many tables do we need & how much does the job pay? :- )

Just kidding about the pay....

Hey Logan,

You need to get there at 6:00 am.  Fight off all the nig...  Black people,   Stay there all by yourself until 11:00 am to save the tables. You may want to bring breakfast, and a gun.

Geeze Larry, What have you folks done to the old sod? I may not come...

6:00 is OK, but really? It's not like it's the 4th of July or anything. I figger only us pagens won't be at church.

Also I figger it's the park by the police station (we call cops 5-0 for some reason here ;- )

Remember the Lyndhurst Home Day at that park when they dropped off the Tribe BB player by helicopter and as the chopper was taking off it did a nose dive & crashed right in front of us? Us was my older bro, Tim, Bobby Porello & maybe Ammo & you? The bugger landed right where we where standing & we ran our asses off to not to get kilt. Fooking life, what an adventure. ;- )

Hey Logan,

Just kidding about the AM and gun thing.  I would say we will need to have someone get there about 10:00-10:30.  You are right that it is not a big day so there should not be a problem.

Marylin Dytewski Alfano has also volunteered to get there to reserve some tables.

I am taking Scruggs to the airport so I will be there about 10:30-11:00.

I think I had just left when the chopper crashed.  I remember seeing It on the ground with the blades buried in the sod.

Every now and then I think about when we chopped down that big tree.  It was b/4 the rest of the development was built.  I remember You, me and your brother hid an ax in the woods and it took us about 3 days to chop it down.  I also remember there was some kind of creek around.  I wonder where that went.   That must be the same creek that is over by the Lyndhurst pool.  It wasn't in the tunnel back then

Of course, there is always the memory of the Amarillo Gold Sox.  I have some home movies of that on 8mm.  Nick Callieo was our bat boy.

When are you getting in?  Where are you staying?  Looking forward to seeing you.

Larry

BTW, I remember those creeks, one was by Sunview School but the cooler one was the one behind your house that ran towards the Lyndhurst City cement pond. Then the few around Memorial School & the big one in Metro Parks by Elmer Fisher's house. So they're all concrete culverts now? how nice. Pave paradise and put up a parking lot. :- )

Sorry Logan, your memory is failing again.  :-)  The chopper brought in a couple of guys from the Browns, Bob Gain was one for sure.  Afterall, the Indians were probably trying to play baseball around the time of Home Day. (July)  They were not very successful then, kind of like they are again now.  The chopper tail hit the ground and forunately nobody got seriously hurt.  See you this weekend.  Aloha dude.

Ahh Randy, My perfect recall fails me yet again :- ) The Tribe did have a good run in the 90's tho, when the Jacobs owned them. 2 or 3 trips to the WS....only 2 maybe. It was fun watching them back then. Aloha back at you & looking forward to the weekend...

So Randy,

Remember the 20 year reunion? My ex-wife came with me and as we were walking in an old girlfriend started swearing, shooting me the bird and gave me stink eye the entire evening.

When we got home that night my ex-wife asked what's up with her? I explained how the poor girl  started drinking after we broke up and never stopped.

My ex-wife said, "poor girl? Ha! I didn't realize anyone could celebrate so long"

So Logan,

You are just night "right".  However, I think that every guy deserves at least one "ex" or three.  If for no other reason, just to point out the "obvious" in her comment, which guys just fail to interpret correctly.  :-)  Keep 'em coming.  I love that Hilo humor and will look for you on the new "5-0" series. "Book 'em Dan-o"  Aloha, Dude.

Acting? Ha! I don't see how those folks can take all the noterity, adjulation and crowds. I like my quiet lil corner of the world. Now if there's any remakes of Caligulia you want to make, give me a call.....I'll figger something I could do on set.
