Jeff was wonderful guy! He had a infectious smile, was kind to all and never said a mean or petty comment about anyone. My first memories of Jeff were at Memorial Junior High, even at that young age it was apparent that he was a " special kind " of person.RIP Jeffrey...

I had the great honor of playing with Jeff on the Brush golf team that went to the the State Championship in 1971 ( along with Tom Aiken and Marc Fried ). For the record Jeff scored the best of the four of us at the Scarlet Course at OSU. He was a true gentleman and would never tolerate bending a rule. A Sportsman with a capital S. We corresponded some years ago and he proudly mentioned going back to the Scarlet Course to watch his son compete in the same event. Jeff and Tom would play vs. Marc and I in match play. Always the same teams and usually 9 holes at Chardon Lakes. We called it " The Classic ." Over the years I have played some great courses with a variety of golfers. Nothing has ever come close to The Classic. If ever there was a Classic it was Jeff Staker. With tears in my eyes, rest well my old friend.

Jeff was a pleasure to be around. Good jokster. I had the pleasure of golfing with him and many of Brush’s finest the last couple years. Jeff will be missed by many. RIP my friend.

Jeff was one of those true good guys, gentle soul and was always looking to help others. I have attached a recent post by the First tee Group, which Jeff was a major contributor to the Cleveland chapter and those children they helped.

Remembering Jeff Staker in partnership with First Tee –

The Brush High School class of 1971 suffered a tremendous loss when Jeff passed. Jeff Staker was on the ground floor during the inception of First Tee – Cleveland. Jeff ran First Tee Life Skills programs at Shawnee Golf Course during the first years of the chapter. When Jeff became the

PGA pro at Washington Golf, the course that First Tee – Cleveland built and turned over to the Cleveland Metroparks to operate, Jeff stayed passionately involved in helping the chapter thrive.

Patricia LoPresti, Executive Director of First Tee – Cleveland, said, “Jeff was always giving of his time and talent to help everyone involved in First Tee – Cleveland. He came to events and always had that beautiful smile shining bright. He helped orchestrate participant golf challenges and never ever uttered a no in his vocabulary.”

The First Tee – Cleveland will always be thankful for his impact and kindness in helping the kids in our community. We are grateful to be able to work in partnership with the class leadership to permanently honor Jeff’s memory at Washington Golf and help even more kids gain the core values that Jeff embodied is tremendous. Jeff set the example of living life to the fullest with compassion for others
