I played golf with Alan about six years ago, he came to AZ to visit his daughter (I believe) and we had a good time chatting about old times.  His last job in the Navy was to assign pilots to aircraft carriers.  He retired for about a year and the Admiral called him and asked him to come back and do his old job as a civilian employee.  Alan said he had to think about it for maybe ten seconds.  They offered him civil service status (for retirement, double dipper as my Dad used to say) at triple his military pay . . . nice work if you can get it and Alan did.  Oh yeah, while collecting his military retirement!!!

Alan came to our 2014 Class Picnic at Martha Lake Park, and I think that was the only Class Reunion he ever attended. The picture that I posted of Alan was from the 2014 Picnic. He came early and was one of the last to leave because he had such a good time. I was hoping to see him again at our 60th Reunion next year. The hardest thing I do is when I have to add a Classmate to the "In Memory" page.
