Gary Thompson

Gary E. Thompson Sr., age 63, of Burton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, October 25th, 2017. He was born in Cleveland, OH on December 20th, 1953 to the late William and Delores (Boggs) Thompson. Gary later married Bonnie Weber on July 27th, 1985.

He was co-owner of Custom Boat Covers of Aurora. Gary was an avid NASCAR racing fan and loved rebuilding Ford Mustangs among other cars. He also enjoyed drag racing at Thompson Drag Raceway and occasionally driving at open charity events for Rainbows and Babies and other Charity Events. Gary's biggest love though came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Hannah and Gavin.

Gary will be greatly missed by: his loving wife of 32 years, Bonnie; children, Cara (Dan) Parks, Gary Thompson Jr., Ann (Tony Tamburro) Thompson, Bill Thompson; grandchildren, Hannah and Gavin Parks; brother, Brian (Jeanette) Thompson; sister-in-law, Kim Thompson; and many friends. He is preceded in death by: his parents and brother, Bruce Thompson.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD, 7 P.M., THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND, 2017 AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 15809 MADISON RD., MIDDLEFIELD, OH with Joyce Benesh officiating. Friends and Family will be received on Thursday from 4 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

When I first got married at 17 and moved to Bedford, Gary would come to my apartment, every morning and take me to Nordonia, so I could finish my senior year and graduate. I had not seen him since then and his passing is so sad. My condolences to his family.
