Each year, from November up into March, there is the well-known list of school closings and delays because of weather-related issues.  Does anyone remember MHS being closed?

The only time I can recall in terms of the high school closing was just before Christmas in 1960.  It seems that leading up to that day there had been an on-going problem with the various buildings getting heat.  Remember how the pipes ran under the walkways back then?  On what would have been the final day before the Christmas break, students arriving were turned away and it was explained the high school was closed due to a lack of heat.  As you might imagine, it was cause for immediate celebration and the buses returned students to the stops they had just picked them up from.  The Christmas break that year started one day early.

Does anyone else remember the high school closing because of weather or some other reason?  I was out of high school when JFK was assasinated.  Perhaps the school was closed on the Monday following that.

 MHS was close the Monday of President Kennedy's funeral.  I don't recall any other day it was closed while I was there--but memories do fade, like I am not sure about last week.
