Marcia Ruth Klerks (Odom) died from Cancer on July 29, 2000. She is buried at the Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California.
Her father died recently.

KLERKS, Ernest William, (Pop). Beloved husband of the late Feodora Kuhr, who predeceased him in 1994, father of Ruth Odom-Klerks, who predeceased him in 2000, son Ernest E. Klerks (Debby) of Loveland, OH, and his grand daughter Monica Flaherty (Christian) of California. Also survived by his cousin, Maaike and nephews Hubert and Gus in California and Albert and Frids in The Netherlands. He passed away at the Jewish Hospital on September 28, at the age of 90.
Ernest was a WWII veteran of the Dutch Army in the former Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) and was a Prisoner of War (POW) in Japan from 1942 to 1945. His POW camp was located between Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He was liberated by the Americans in 1945. Ernest his wife Fay, daughter Ruth, and son Ernest Jr., left Indonesia in 1955 due to the Communist takeover there, for the Netherlands. The family then immigrated to the US in 1961. Pop and his family became US citizens in 1967. That was one of Pop’s proudest moments.
Pop was a devout Christian and a member of the Madeira Silverwood Presbyterian Church,8000 Miami Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45243 since 1961 where visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, from 10-11AM with funeral at 11AM.
