Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of
Mr. David Eugene Lee

Mr. David Eugene Lee, age 67, of Hanover, Indiana entered this life on November 5, 1950 in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of Elmer and Luella Mae Konkle Lee. He resided all of his life in Jefferson County and was a 1969 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. On May 18, 1974, David was united in marriage to Sherry Lee Adams at the North Madison Baptist Church by Rev. Robert Blake. This happy union of 44 years was blessed with sons, Jeffrey Allen and Brandon Todd. He was employed early in life for Fewell's Sinclair Gas Station and later worked at Grote Industries. David retired from Dow Corning after 28 years of service as a product delivery shift leader. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in downtown Madison serving as a deacon. He loved to travel and winter with his beloved wife in Avon Park, Florida and attended Grace Bible Church there. David was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hydroplane racing, Colts football, a die hard Louisville Cardinals fan, but most of all his joy was with his sons and grandchildren. As memories are wont to do, my earliest memories of David are somewhat cloudy, yet distinctly pleasant.  More recently, my infrequent visits to Madison were more often than not hilighted by running into David along the river, particularly at Regatta time.  Those moments will be sorely missed.  RIP old friend.

I fondly remember his infectious laugh, he always seemed to have that great big smile on his face.  We will miss you Dave.  RIP.

The night we graduated, at 3:00am - David, Tom Bentley, Mike Rusk, Dwight Ritter, and I left for Daytona Beach, Florida. David had borrowed his sister Diane's car (I believe it was a 1969 Dodge Coronet), and off we went. Randy Gayle - in his new Camaro - also took a group to Daytona. We met there, got rooms, and spent one of the funniest weeks ever. David and Tom were so funny the whole trip, and made the trip memorable in so many ways.

When I moved back from Florida in 2016, David was one of the first classmates I ran into. We had a great conversation catching up, and I will always remember him as one of my favorites. David Lee, may God rejoice in your company, and give you the rest you deserve.

Growing up in Madison, I was very fortunate to have a group of close friends.  My heart aches for the recent loss of one of them, David Lee.

I have know David for 55 years.  So many fond memoreis of the things we did from Junior High, through High School, and into adulthood.  My life is better because of Dave.

Dave was a big influence on me becoming a Christian.  This was the most important decision of my life.  We talked about Jesus, he invited me to Church, and eventually I accepted the Lord Jesus as my Savior.  It was fitting that I was baptized on November 5th, which is David's birthday.

Over the years we kept in touch.  Whenever we got together, we always had a good time.  We still had heart to heart talks about all kind of things, but we especially liked reminiscing about the time in High School with our classmates in the Class of 69.

Rest in peace, my friend, in your heavenly home until we see each other again.
