Mike and I went to church together at Trinity United Methodist Church where his father was our minister.  He was always kind and had a sweet smile.  He struggled with congenital heart disease and had heart surgery six years ago.   Unfortunately he developed a staph infection while in the hospital after surgery.   He was never able to leave, and after six months he passed away.  His  brother Kevin, who is a minister in Evansville, still mourns his loss.

Mike was a close neighber and his Dad was my minister at Trinity Methodist so we saw a lot of each other.

He was with Dale and I on our Huckelberry Finn trip down the Ohio. When we were 15 we built a wooden raft with chemical barrels for floats in my back yard. My dad hauled it to Tanners Creek near Lawensburg where we launched. We spent nearly a week floating to Madison having the time of our lives. Passing through Markland Dam on our little wooden raft was like riding on a cork in a flushing toilet.

Mike, Mike Leach and I took a summer road trip to Mammoth Cave In '67 or '68. Fortunately, when we arrived there were so many tourists on hand they hed to cancel the guided tours. They simply marked the path with signs and told everybody to stay on the designated trail. Riiight. So we did our exploring by climbing over gates, around boulders, and up ledges to get to the interesting places. We were in there for six hours before they cornered us and politely escorted us out of the cave. Now, that's the way to see Mammoth.

I miss Mike, we did have fun.
