Yes, and if memory serves me, he was a Green Beret.

John was killed in a helicopter crash during a training exercise. He is buried in Arlington. He left behind his wife, Linda, and a daughter. It was sometime before our ten year reunion. He left us way too soon!

Just found the clipping telling how John was decorated by the President of the Dominican republic with the Order of Aerial Merit. He was a Marine helicopter pilot carrying a generator from an isolated dam site to the Dominican Electricity Corp. when it crashed. I was very sad when I read the artical. Now it even means more to me as my son is a Marine at New River, NC, where John was stationed. My son David will be working on helicopters. We miss you John.

John

From one veteran to another, thanks for serving and being the kind of person that everyone liked in school.  John we'll miss you, but we'll never forget our short time together, take care, and we'll all be together again in that military base up there,  where all good soldiers pass along too.   Your service to our country, and to your family, is a tribute to the love and sacrifice you gave so that we in the United States can enjoy our life, living in peace.  You served with Pride, Honor, Duty to Family and Friends - A Soldier Creedo
