Robert E. Schoolcraft, 53, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in his home.
He was born in Madison to the late Dormond R. Schoolcraft and Clara Ilene (Gibbs) Schoolcraft, who survives in Madison.
He married Nancy K. (Bosworth) Balle on April 5, 2005. She survives.
He graduated in 1974 from Purdue University with a BEET degree. He was an electrical engineer for more than 30 years at General Cable.
Additional survivors include daughter, Erica Jo (Thomas) Morlan, San Diego; brother, John Michael (Marsha) Schoolcraft, Madison; and sister, Judy (Tim) Sharp, Jeffersonville.
A private family service is at a later date.

"Scoots" played in the bands,both trumpet and keyboards.he lived with his dad near West Street and drove his dads Olds 442 quite often... He dated Diane Lichlyter. after school he drove a micro bus and I lost track of what he was up to... He had a good spirit and was always fun to hang out with.

Bob and I were communicating online in 1999 and he sent me photos of his house and his work. Last we spoke online he was telling me his daughter suffered from depression and I said so is my daughter and that it is very serious. I see his daughter now lives in San Diego I hope she is receiving the very best care, it's tough to get through it . Also we were trading music in WAV. programs and experimenting with flare and style our musical fun! He lived across the street from my grandparents house on WEST ST so I saw him nearly every day after school and there was another kid our age on the same block who we admired and remonstrance. I wondered why he stopped communicating with me but I moved to southern California Christmas week of 1999 and went for a roller coaster ride that ended with me dropping my husband off at the border, hah after years of marriage to a lying cheating floundering jerk from hell hah and returning to the plkace I love under the redwoods in Northern California.
