Two Madison girls were killed and a third seriously injured early this morning in a one-car accident at Lawrenceburg, Ind. Pronounced dead at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg were Beverly Jean Lindsey, 18, 1161 W. Second St., and Jeanette C. Braun, 20, 208 Elm St.
Kathy A. Pritchard, 20, 411 W. First St., was taken to Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. The hospital said she was undergoing surgery at presstime and that she was stable going into surgery.
According to Lawrenceburg Police, the car the three girls were riding in was westbound on U.S. 50. The car struck a 20-inch in diameter steel pole that supports a traffic light at the highway's intersection with Walnut Street in downtown Lawrenceburg.
Police said the car struck the pole broadside on the left side at about 2:15am. All three girls were thrown from the auto and police had not determined which one was driving.
Miss Pritchard is the daughter of John T. Pritchard, 411 W. First St., and the late Betty Pritchard.
Jeanette Christine Braun was the daughter of Werner and Erna Braun. She was a native of Madison and a 1973 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. She attended Ball State University.
Survivors besides her parents include three brothers: Gerhard, Madison; Manfred, Chickasha, Okla.; and Hans, Owatonna, Minn.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins in Germany.
Arrangements are incomplete at the Vail Memorial Funeral Home.
Beverly Jean Lindsey was the daughter of Mrs. Brenda Bilz, and the stepdaughter of Tony Bilz. She attended Madison Consolidated High School and was an employee of Meyers and Son Manufacturing. Survivors besides the parents are two half brothers, John and Robert, both at home.
