Diana Schafer Mahoney

I worked at Madison nursing home in every department where ever they needed me that is how they did in the 1970s we even past out the medicine we were trained on the job I really really liked taking care of the elderly I also did private duty at the same time I usally worked two jobs while my mom(Doris Schafer) and my dad (Frank Schafer) took care of Glen and Maggy for me. In 1986 I became disabled due to a car accident I volunteered at the Salvation Army for about 20yrs and I was on the O.V.O.Board of Directors representing the low income for about 15 yrs me and my sister (Pearl Schafer Stites)were on the board and helped to get the O.V.O.Apartments approved and built that is something we were proud to be a part of the other thing I am proud of was my strong work etic that my parents taught me even though I ve always been fat I proved people wrong where I was concerned they say fat people are lazy. I weighed 400lbs and worked 2 jobs and was highly recommended when I left because I did a good job.then while disabled was lucky enough to be volunteer at the Salvation Army and the time I was on the O.V.O.Board so I feel I have left my mark in this town even though no one knows it I do I know I and my family(especially Glen and Maggy) though volunteering have helped thousands of low income people like myself and I thank GOD for that BLESSING My son Glen has M S and is in a hospital bed now so he can no longer help but my beautiful talented Maggy was out all day collecting donations for Jefferson County Free in Need to auction off on the site to raise money for low income kids Christmas at Southwestern School so check out the site and help the kids you will feel blessed

I was an art student geek that is really all I cared about I spent all the time I could working on anything to do with art I had high hopes of going to an art school and making my mark there but GOD used me to help the elderly and low income people instead and I am a better person for that which I give him thanks and praise. Hey do you all remember going to the gym during lunch and listening to music and even dancing I never could get the hang of the line dance all of you girls did but I really enjoyed watching The class I hated with a passion was gym Miss Eisenhirer making us weigh in front of everybody is really embarrassing when you are fat plus having to take showers in front of everybody I was sooo embarrassed in that class I d do anything to get out of it I still feel embarrassed just thinking about it
