MADISON - We lost an awesome son, brother and friend Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016. Don Bates passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison after a brief illness.
Don was born Oct. 25, 1968. He graduated from Madison Memorial High School in 1987 and then attended UW-Madison. Don made his mark in the hospitality industry in Madison and Milwaukee working at many notable restaurants as a bartender and manager. As most of us are in Wisconsin, Don was an avid Badgers, Packers and especially a Brewers fan. Donnie Baseball loved life and lived it to the fullest.
Don is survived by his parents, Ray and Audrey Bates; brothers, Jim (Mary) Bates and Tom Bates; and nieces, Ally and Leah.
We would like to thank the wonderful medical staff at St. Mary's and UW Hospital for their tremendous care for Don. We would also like to thank our Hospice care angels for their incredible compassion during our difficult time.
