Eric Luther

Eric Andrew Luther, of Victor, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula from injuries suffered in an ATV accident.

Eric was born Nov. 18, 1969. He grew up in Madison, Wis., graduating from Memorial High School in 1988. After graduating from high school, he attended Madison Area Technical College, earning degrees in fire science and police science.

Eric loved his years in public service. He proudly served the citizens of Dane County, Wis., as a member of the Fitchburg Fire Department and Fitch-Rona Ambulance Service. He then served as a state trooper in the Wisconsin State Patrol. Later he joined the Beloit (Wis.) Fire Department, where he retired in 2002. He was a lifetime member of Beloit Firefighters IAFF Local 583.

Eric moved to Montana after retirement and lived life here to the fullest. He loved Montana and all of the opportunities. He loved to hunt, fish and any other activity as long as he was outdoors. To those who knew him well, it was always “one more thing.”

Eric is survived by his parents, Larry and Jackie Luther of Madison, Wis.; a sister, Leah Folsom and her husband Joe of Prairie Village, Kan.; his “little brother,” Chris Sharrard of Big Brothers Big Sisters; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends who loved him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (jdrf.org), the IAFF John P. Redmond Fund (iafffoundation.com) or to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Missoula.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, at Missoula Alliance Church, 100 E. Foss Court.
