Marine Corps. Vietnam War. “He was born on October 16, 1941, and joined the Armed Forces while in MADISONVILLE, KY. He served as a 0341 in the Marine Corps.  In 6 years of service, he attained the rank of SGT/E5. On February 3, 1966, at the age of 24, WILLIAM MICHAEL COOMES perished in the service of our country in South Vietnam, Quang Ngai.”
