Sherry Kaye Hammack (Pierce)

Sherry Hammack Pierce – Age 79, passed away on January 4, 2021, from natural causes in Dallas, Texas. Originally from Madisonville, Kentucky, and a long- time resident of Mobile, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Theda Ward Hammack and Seldon Richard Hammack. Mrs. Pierce graduated from Madisonville High School and attended Christian College in Columbia, Missouri, and the University of Alabama where she studied history, sociology, and secondary education. It was at the University of Alabama where she met her love and soul mate of 44 years, the late Jon P. Pierce, a native of Mobile. Wherever Mr. and Mrs. Pierce lived, Mrs. Pierce volunteered in the community. She was instrumental in establishing a shelter for women and children in Spokane, Washington, was a charter member, Deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Sherwood Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge, La, sat on several community boards in Walnut Creek, California, and was a long-time active member of the Junior League and Tri Delta sorority. Mrs. Pierce loved spending time with her family, watching SEC basketball and football, reading, history, and playing the piano and the flute. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lesley and Kenny Rubenstein; her daughter, Julia Pierce; her son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Kristin Pierce, and her grandchildren Spencer, Pierce, Mary Jordan, Keegan, Keeley, Patrick, Francie, and Hunter.
