JAMES GATLIN OBITUARY

James Leonard Gatlin, Sr., 80, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 after a short stay in Hospice Community Care.
Mr. Gatlin was born in Madisonville, Kentucky. He was a graduate of Madisonville High School, Class of 1960 and studied Business at Jones College in Jacksonville. Mr. Gatlin was a Veteran of the US Navy and retired from AT&T as a communications technician. He married Nellie Coker Gatlin in 1964 and together they were members of Highlands Baptist Church and the Monte Carlo Super Sport Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie, his daughter Michelle Gatlin, parents William and Elizabeth Gatlin, his brother William "Billy" Gatlin, and multiple brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Survivors include his son James L. "Skeeter" Gatlin, Jr. (Missy), grandson Phillip Gatlin (Danielle) and granddaughter Shelby Snead (Cody), brother Richard Gatlin, sisters-in-law Shirley Pace and Mary Kate Holliman, many nieces and nephews and a host of good friends.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Dunns Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Dave Malmberg officiating.
Burial will follow at 11:30 AM at Jacksonville National Cemetery with Military Honors.
His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday at Dunns Creek Baptist Church.
