Glendal (Red) Rice

Glendal Boyd (Red) Rice passed away Sunday Jan. 31, in Henderson Kentucky. He was born in Hopkins
County, August 1, 1942, to the late William Henry Rice and Luria Edna Cartwright Rice.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dorman Ray and Claudie E. Rice. 

Red retired from the city as fire chief, after 33 years of service in 1998. He was active in the Rotary league football program and the Great Banquet of Madisonville and the prison ministry.   He served in the Navy and was a Kentucky Colonel, and was active in Lodge 143 of the Masons.  He was active and past president of the Madisonville Lion's Club.

Glendal was of the Apostolic faith and attended Life Christian Center.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Carol; his brother Shirley; his son Ronald C. (Shawna); his daughter Shari Rene' (Dennis) Brasher; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; four stepchildren.

Service : two p.m. Friday at the Life Christian Center with Dr. Pat Wilson, Ron Rice and Jon Kincaid officiating. 
Entombment in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, with military honors.

Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home.  Memorial donations may be made to the Madisonville Great Banquet or the Lucy Smith King Hospice Center in Henderson.
