Moved to Canada in 1968 to fight for peace, married a Winnipeg girl, stayed in Canada, except for two plus years in Uganda 1970-1972 and more recently winters in Florida.
Proud father of two wonderful children: Cathy - a mother of two employed by Community Learning Network and Geoff - an investment advisor and wealth manager for BMO Nesbitt Burns. Canada has been my home for 44 years after 24 years residing in the US. I am a citizen of both, but clearly at home north of the border and more comfortable with Canada's civility and moderation, celebration of its mosaic of cultures and races, and ability to disagree without demonizing one's opponent, and lack of interest in waging war in far away places, at least if we are unable to thumb a ride to get there.

Time at Malverne greatly impacted by the civil rights movement and the reality that racism quietly flourished in suburban long island. We came to realize that not just the South practiced racial segregation and discrimination. I think that some positive change ensued. but I am distressed that we in Canada call "two solitudes" continued and became more bitter and complete in years following. I was privileged to know Bill Clemens, who died from cancer before graduating, Judy White, now a psychotherapist, Mike Flug, now an archivist. and many others I look forward to meeting again. And there are some staff that still resonate- Herkemer Wilmot Degraff. Helen Loyd... I moved away after graduation and rarely returned to the old neighborhood since - but there is no doubt that Malverne played a huge role in shaping the rest of my life and for that I am grateful
