Debra Kay (Brandt) DeVlaeminck, age 57 of Mankato, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014 surrounded by her family. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Paul Nolting officiating. Burial at a later date will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5- 7 p.m., Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary and continue one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Deb was born July 17, 1956 to Fred and Lorraine (Allen) Brandt. She was united in marriage to Melvin DeVlaeminck in 1974 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato. Together they managed Rothfork's Truck Stop and did newspaper delivery routes, for many years. Deb worked as a chef at the Mankato Golf Club for 27 years. Deb enjoyed cooking baking, gardening, playing bingo, and her Tops group. Deb was dedicated to her family and did anything she could for them. Deb is survived by her honorary son, Matt Mueller and his fiancée Hannah and granddaughter, Nora; siblings, Fred (Phyllis) Brandt, sister Phyllis (Richard) Goettl, sister, Dianne Brandt, brother, Steve, sister, Darlene, brother, David all of Mankato; special friend, Paul Stanke of Waterville; lots of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents, brother, Chris and nephew, Michael.

Barbara Thul -West (Caven)

I worked with Deb at the Holiday Inn on range street aas well as the Mankato Golf Club years later. She made some fantastic desserts and always had a smile on her face for everyone.  I was shocked when I heard of her death.  She was such a wonderful person.
