I first met Kingsly in 5th grade at Brinkerhoff along with Danny Porter, Cathy Smith, Paula Kiffner, Mark Homsley, Carol Scott (I had a crush on her) and a bunch of other 5th graders from around the city.  I never knew Kingsly's first name was Russell untill we were reunited in 10th grade at MSH. To me he was always King Arthur, which I thought a rather grand name for such an odd person.  I enjoyed Kingsley's strange humor and rather high brow comments even though it often took me awhile to figure out just what the heck he was talking about.  A rather odd memory of Kingsley was that he was the only guy I've ever seen that would sit at a school desk (grade school or high school) and cross his right leg over the top of the left leg with his calf dangled straight down so his foot almost touched the floor, and then slide his rear end forward on the seat like a recliner - creating a kind of strange backward S curve with his body.  I tried it once and it took about 10 minutes to get un-wound.  Wierd what we remember about people we know isn't it?

After MSHS  we all went our own ways and I only kept up on Kingsley thru his brother Ken who works in the Building Code Department for Richland County, and his sister Becky whom I would see at church or sometimes while walking on the street downtown.  Ken told me in the summer of 2009 that Kingsly was still living in Gambier, Ohio, but in weaking health.  His passing was not a surprise, but when I heard about it I thought of the five years I knew him (5,6,10,11 &12th grades) and in a world where a lot of people are trying to be sombody they're not, I salute Russell Kingsly Arthur for always just being himself - for me one of a kind and "King Arthur" forever.
