Jake lost his battle to colon cancer on Monday, March 21st, 2011. 

John "Jake" C. Kaster

John "Jake" C. Kaster, 50, of Marinette, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2011, at Bay Area Medical Center after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was born on January 27, 1961, to the late Donald A. and Joanne (Kitzinger) Kaster in Marinette.
Jake graduated from Marinette High School in 1979 and went on to NWTC for his journeymen maintenance certification. He had worked at KSU for 31 years. On April 27, 1985, Jake married Sandra Schingick in Peshtigo. He was a member of SS. Joseph & Edward Parish and the Marinette Moose Lodge. Jake enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, cutting wood, gardening, playing pool and spending time socializing with family and friends. He also coached softball and wrestling.
Jake is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sandy; a son, Jacob Kaster of Porterfield; two daughters: Shannon (Bryan) Ellie of Peshtigo and Tiffannie (Nick Mouford) Kaster of Green Bay; three grandchildren: Hannah, Nolan, and Rocco; five brothers: Thomas (Cheryl) Kaster, Michael (Cathy) Kaster, Donald (Joan) Kaster, all of Marinette, Brian Kaster of Peshtigo and Douglas (Donna) Kaster of Menominee; five sisters: Margaret (George) Wingers of Marinette, Holly Opsahl of Peshtigo, MaryJo (David) Cherry of Porterfield, Maureen (Phillip) Jones of Wausaukee and Marsha (Kenneth) Bertrand of Porterfield; mother-in-law, Rose Marie Schingick of Peshtigo; in-laws: Barb (Jim) Renner, Debra (Charles) Puterbaugh, both of Marinette, Dave (Lynn) Schingick, Betty (Jeff) Knopik, Kim (Brent) Radtke, and Pam (Robert) Ryding, all of Peshtigo; and 91 nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy; nephews: Steven Wingers, Shannon Wingers and Robert Opsahl Jr.; father-in-law, Allen; brother-in-law, John; sister-in-law, Penny and a niece, Jessica Knopik.
Friends may call at the Thielen Funeral Home on Friday, March 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Additional time of visitation will be held at St. Mary's Church in Peshtigo on Saturday, March 26 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dean Dombroski officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. 
A memorial fund has been established.
