Obituary

Lloyd Howard Peterson, 60, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020, at his residence in Winter Garden, FL. Lloyd was born August 16, 1960, in Menominee, MI to Olaf and Cecelia Peterson of Marinette, WI. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and eldest sister, Julie. He is survived by eight siblings (Doris, Marie, Gayle, Karla, Peter, Celeste, Paul, and Dean), two children (Jonathan and Joseph), three grandchildren (Madelyn, Liliana, and Charlotte), and countless friends and acquaintances.

Lloyd graduated from Marinette Senior High School in 1979 and enlisted in the United States Navy the same year. He served aboard the USS Francis Scott Key and USS John Adams, eventually earning the rank of Electrician’s Mate 1st Class (E6). He consistently achieved high marks in training and received numerous commendations for his performance and competency in maintaining submarine electrical systems. He retired from active duty in 1985 and spent most of his civilian career as a licensed journeyman-electrician conducting maintenance and repairs for various organizations. He took pride in performing challenging repair tasks and enjoyed helping others with side jobs, often remarking, “I can fix anything!” He was highly intelligent and enjoyed challenging activities like crossword puzzles, trivia, and chess. He was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan who often wore a foam Cheesehead, and he was a good-hearted person who liked making others laugh with frequent cheesy jokes. He spent much of his leisure time at social gatherings and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home at 1148 E Plant St in Winter Garden on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, followed by a gathering at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4305 at 1170 E Plant St.
