MARION - Charles Brian Yaw, 37, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2009, at his home.
He was born June 7, 1971, in Birmingham, Ala., the son of James Charles Yaw Jr. and Lynda L. Orr.
Brian, as he was known by many, attended the Marion school system and was a graduate of Marion High School in 1989. During his junior high and high school years, he volunteered countless hours at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center. After graduation he attended Sullivan College of Louisville, Ky., for hotel and restaurant management.
His working career was in the hotel and restaurant industry working in Alabama, North Carolina and Illinois.
Brian was a member of Second Baptist Church of Marion and he most recently was attending Community Chapel Church of Marion, where he enjoyed praise and worship music.
All during his lifetime he was always interested in electronics. He understood computers very well and enjoyed communicating with his many friends throughout the country. He also enjoyed photography and always kept updated on the new features of the latest camera. Some of his other interests included fishing, spending time outdoors and meteorology.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lynda L. and Gene Goolsby of Marion; father and stepmother, James C. and Sheila Yaw Jr. of Birmingham, Ala.; maternal grandmother and stepmaternal grandfather, Lillian L. and Clyde B. Richard of Marion; step paternal grandmother, Virginia R. Goolsby of Harrisburg; paternal grandmother and step paternal grandfather, Marie and Russell Jones of Franklin, N.C.; paternal grandfather and paternal grandmother, James C. and Hattie L. Yaw of Montverde, Fla.; stepsister, Christine McKee and her husband, Philip, of Prattville, Ala.; four stepbrothers, Neal Broadhead of Birmingham, Ala., Byron E. Goolsby and his wife, Robin, and Joseph E. Goolsby and his wife, Cheri, all of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Robert P. Goolsby and his wife, Karla, of Houston; several aunts, uncles, great aunts and cousins, all whom he dearly loved; special friends, Tom and Alyce Sprague of Marion, and Teresa (Orr) Moore of Birmingham, Ala. and his special Pekingese, Baby Buddy Boy.
