Charles Frank Wachtelhausen (12/20/1946-3/19/2006)
Wachtelhausen. Charles F. "Charlie" Wachtelhausen, age 59, of Columbus, passed away suddenly Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born December 20. 1946 in Marion, Ohio to the late William James and Ruth Agnes (Gaffey) Wachtelhausen. Charlie graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1968, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Charlie started his continuous career in education by teaching at Mohawk Public Schools for 5 years after graduating from college. He then worked for Herff Jones Co., Wards Natural Science and then finished 25 years of loyal, outstanding service with Sargent-Welch Scientific Co., retiring in June, 2005. He will always be remembered as "The Biggest Name in Science". Charlie was a member of the Bowling Green Falcon Club, was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed football, tennis, golf and NASCAR. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers William Wachtelhausen and Richard Wachtelhausen. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Marlys Wachtelhausen; son, Grant Wachtelhausen; sister-in-law, Lila Wachtelhausen; 2 nephews, Jason (Jessina) Wachtelhausen and William (Lynette) Wachtelhausen; one great-niece and one great-nephew. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2006 at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, where the family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Kingwood Memorial Park, Lewis Center, Ohio.
