Linda Shapher (Faulkner) Obituary

Linda Schaper, 81, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at the Iowa River Hospice Home with her family at her side.

Services for Linda will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown beginning at 10:30 A.M. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Linda Jane Faulkner was born May 6, 1942 in Albion, Iowa. She was the youngest of two children. Linda attended school in Marshalltown and she graduated from Marshalltown High School in the Class of 1960.

On July 28, 1967 she was united in marriage to Paul Schaper. With this union they had a son Shane. Paul and Linda had also adopted another son and raised them together. Linda worked for the Green Mountain Garwin School District where she worked in their kitchens as a cook and would later retire from her position. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Marshalltown. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking at home for her family, loved all animals, going camping, would help out her husband Paul at the racetracks on the weekends and attend dances together. She was altogether caring and strong but never hesitated to help out anyone if they were in need of assistance.

Linda is survived by her son Shane Schaper; her grandchildren, Hunter Schaper, Brent Schaper, and Rebecca Vajgrt; great-grandchildren Dixie and Carley Schaper; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Schaper; her son John Schaper; parents John and Ruth Faulkner; and sister Evelyn Faulkner.
