Barbara Grothe, 56

Glendale, CA. - Barbara Grothe 56, of Glendale, CA., a former Marshalltown resident,  died Sunday, Feb. 8 in her sleep due to cancer. 

Services will be Saturday at Glendale Neighborhood Christian Fellowship, 632 W. Stocker St. Glendale, CA., 91202.

She was born in Marshalltown on Nov. 15, 1942 to Elmer and Florence Meling.  She moved to Glendale, CA., in 1965.

She was a foster parent for over eight years.  She became a counselor at the Pasadena Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include her husband, Don; a son, Todd; a daughter, Heather;  her parents, Elmer and Florence Meling of Marshalltown; four grandchildren and a sister Virginia.
