In Memory

David Cole

• At our request for David's obituary, a recent letter was received from David's older brother, Brian Cole.  As there was no obituary this is what he wrote in memory of David:

• Regarding Dave's death, I didn't put a notice in any paper.  He died alone and was alone for several years except for work.  Here is what I know.

Dave Cole was born on February 1, 1942, in Marshalltown, Iowa.  He died in the early morning hours of September 5, 2003, in Des Moines, Iowa.  He died from congestive heart failure, congestive kidney failure, congestive liver failure, emphysema, and acute pneumonia.

He was married twice and had no children.  He worked in sales and bank financing, was a deputy sheriff, and an adult parole and probation officer.  The most unusual job he had was when he lived in Guam and traveled all of the Pacific rim, selling American products, including selling to the American military.

In his later years, he apparently had few friends, keeping mostly to himself.  He is survived by two brothers and their families, but he rarely communicated with them.  His father died in 1988 and his mother in 1991.

This is all I know for certain.  He was a puzzle to the rest of us because we only knew bits and pieces from time to time.
