Marlys L. Dudley - Oct. 2, 1942-May 15 1993

Marlys L. Dudley, 50, of Story City, died of liver cancer on Saturday at University Hospitals in Iowa City.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the First Friends Church.  The Revs. Phillip King and Wilmer Peter will officiate.  Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.  Friends may call at Estel-Perrin Avey Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Tuesday.   A memorial fund is being established.

She was born Oct. 2, 1942, in Marshalltown to Robert and Lois Faye Griggs Lampman.  She was a graduate of Marshalltown High School in 1960 and then attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa.  She graduated from the Mercedian School of Nursing as an L.P.N. in 1962, in 1963, she married Gene Ward and they had lived in Newton, Hesper, Decorah and  Marshalltown.  She later married Daniel Dudley and they lived in State Center and Story City until ill health forced her retirement.  During the last year she had lived in Story City.

She attended First Friends Church, Bible Faith Church in Story City,  and was a volunteer with the American Red Cross for many years. 

She is survived by her mother, Lois Lampman of Marshalltown; two daughters, Valerie Hoag of Kahoka, MO., a son Mark Ward of Red Oak; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mina Jo Klaas of State Cener, Donna Lampman of Oskaloosa; and a brother, David Lampman of Marshalltown.  She was preceded in death by her father.

Services for Marlys Lee Dudley, 50 of Story City, who died Sat., May 15, were held Wednesday a the First Friends Church.   Burial was in Rose Hill memorial Gardens.  Honorary bearers were Lowell Griggs, David Lampman, Ron Gutting, Rob Chaplin and Phillip Collins.  Bearers were Terry Yoccum, Bill Griggs, Brian Peter, Don Nelson, Denny Eige and Ken Johnson.  Estel-Perrin-Avey was in charge of arrangements.
