Linda Speas Dies At 32

Linda Louise Replogle Speas, 32, a former Marshalltown resident and the daughter of Mrs. Doris Replogle Tweed, LeGrand, died Wednesday afternoon at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls.  Death was attributed to a brain tumor.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Iowa Falls, with the Rev. Duane R. Voas officiating.  Burial will be at Timber Creek Cemetery south of Marshalltown.  Surls & Grupe Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Speas was born July 26, 1943, in Marshalltown, the daughter of Paul and Doris Schulz Replogle.  She attended rural Marshall County schools & Marshalltown schools, graduating from Marshalltown Community College in 1962.She graduated from Iowa State University in 1964 with highest honors in a bacteriology curriculum, and later attended the University of Northern Iowa where she received a graduate degree and earned her teacher's certificate.

On March 27, she was married to James Howard Speas at the Grace United Methodist Church, and he survives, as do two daughters, Jennifer Ellen, 7 & Megan Elizabeth, 2.

The couple lived for a short time in Maryville MO. and then moved to Iowa Falls, where Speas is in business.  Until Christmas vacation Mrs. Speas had taught 5th grade in an Iowa Falls elementary school.

Mrs. Speas was a member of the United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls and of a circle in that church; she was also a member of several honorary and professional societies.

Besides her immediate family she is survived by her mother, Doris Replogle Tweed, LeGrand; 3 sisters; Mrs. Kenton (Lala) Hutchison, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Joe (Phyllis) Malechek, Rhodes, and Mrs. John (Su) McCurdy, Marshalltown; and a maternal grandfather, H.A. Schulz, LeGrand.  She was preceded in death by her father, two nephews and a niece.
