MARY WAS MY VERY BEST FRIEND. I ADORED HER. WE HAD SUCH GREAT TIMES TOGETHER ESPECIALLY ON SLEEP OVERS AT HER HOUSE! HER MOM WAS SO SWEET AND HER SISTER LET ME BORROW HER "FUR" COAT FOR THE PROM. I THINK OF MARY OFTEN.

Mary was my very best friend too. "Mary Belle". We had such fun. We called the Mayor and sang to him. We went to the root beer stand in our p.j.s when she was sick. We talked for hours about boys, kissing and whatever. Her mom Mable was wonderful and so was her sister Linda. We had a secret club, Mary, Gary and I. The eternal triangle. I will always carry her in my heart. She was funny and could make me laugh. She thought her mom was very old when she was only 50. I did too. We sometimes slept in her backyard. Very exciting. We were good , never drank. I think we tried to smoke a couple of times. I remember before she knew she had cancer she started worrying about her health as she did not feel up to par. She said she hoped she did not have a goiter. I wish that would have been what she had. She was very brave..in that ward in Iowa City with people dying around her. We shared some secrets too. Good ones. Love you Mary.
