On the lighter side... Rockfest 2011 now complete.  Me in my custom-made chainsaw hat before Jackyl takes the stage.  Some people just take this event too seriously! Ya'll should be there next year!

Me onstage with my former mentor and band-mate, Jesse James Dupree, during the finale performance of "The Lumberjack" song at Rockfest 2011.

Here's one for Todd M.  "Uncle Ted" Nugent with original vocalist Derek St. Holmes on the left.  After Def Leppard and Heart cancelled Sunday night, Rockfest scrambled to sign the Nuge, and Stone Temple Pilots as replacements.  I never thought I would see Derek perform live with Ted. What a treat!  Just what the doctor ordered!

We have another loss to our class as Kelly Schubert passed away Friday night, I will post his obit on his site for everyone to see.  Remember his family in your prayers this week as this will be a tough Thanksgiving for them.

I also want to have everyone say a prayer or two for two other classmates in need...Jennifer Nissen is not doing well...Jennifer is on her last days with us.. I am told.  Gary Bluebaugh has had his cancer come back but I know Gary and he's gonna keep fighting....but remember them in your prayers this week....when you have family and friends around and your thanksful for what you have, think of them and say an extra prayer for them..

My best friend for thirty six years, Jennifer Nissen is in her last days of stage five carcinoma cancer. It has spread throughout her body and is now in her brain. She is at home with her family and has Hospice care daily. Send a prayer so that she may continue on her journey.Thank you Jennifer for always being there for me,i love you!!!!

 Jennifer,

When we first talked to each other I knew we would always be friends. Our friendship has kept on growing and I'll be here for you to the end. You listen when I have a problem and help dry the tears from my face. You take away my sorrow and put happiness in its place. We can't forget the fun we've had laughing 'til our faces turn blue, talking of things only we find funny, people think we're insane-if they only knew! I guess this is my way of saying thanks for catching me when I fall. Thanks once again for being such a good friend and being here with me through it all.

Sad to hear of Jennifer's passing. I am happy that she is no longer dealing with disease and pain, but very sad that she no longer has life, which she was so full of.

My heart is saddened to hear of more passings of our classmates this year.  It brings home how important each day we have with the ones we love, as they too shall pass, never to return.  May the families of those classmates find peace through this season as we celebrate the hope we have in Christ.

Hellen Keller said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart."  There have been Classmates who have passed on this year, and it is very sad to lose them. It is likely that many of us may have had some members of our own family or friends pass on. For all those who are hurting and healiing from the loss of friends and loved ones...may this be a season which allows us to feel the love of those who have gone before us.Let us feel their love in our hearts.

So sorry to hear about Jennifer Nissen Sagar this past week.  We were Roger's Elementary school mates. Jennifer was definitely her own person-and that's what attracted others to her. It's easy to smile when thinking of her.  My wife and I ran into Jennifer at Backbone State Park just a few months ago.  It was a beautiful fall day and she appeared to be in good spirits at that time. Prayers to her boys, Mom, and family.

Gary Edward Blubaugh, 52, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012, at his home with his family by his side while under the care of Iowa River Hospice. He was born May 6, 1960 in Knoxville, IA to Gene and Marie Blubaugh. On September 17, 1977 he married Lisa Coughlin. Together they had two daughters. Gary was a very dedicated worker and provider for his family. He loved camping, spending time with his family, riding his Harley, fishing, hunting and watching races. His sense of humor was always entertaining and even through his battle with cancer, he kept his family laughing. Gary put up a courageous fight and his positive attitude was amazing.

He is survived by his wife Lisa, daughters Heather (Chad) Hupfeld, Natalie Blubaugh (Michael Fosdick), his four grandchildren Sophie and Brodie Blubaugh and Allena and Olin Hupfeld. He was also survived by four siblings, Pam Blubaugh (Mike Mattox), Tammy (Doug) Branson, Linda (Loyd) King and Craig Blubaugh. He is also survived by many other relatives and good friends. In death he rejoins his parents Eugene Blubaugh and Marie Mattingly.

A celebration of life will be held on June 24, 2012, at the Impala Ballroom at 1005 W. Lincolnway in Marshalltown. Open house begins at 2:00 p.m. Our family would like to say thank you so much to all of our family and friends for such great support, thoughts, and prayers. A special thanks to Mayo Clinic, Dr. Merchant, Dr. VanBuren, Dr. Pollpeter, Iowa River Hospice, LENNOX, and Pursel Davis Funeral and Cremation Care. Craig MacGregor and Roger Earl of Foghat, playing at free "Down By The Riverside" concert series in Rochester, MN, July 8, 2012.  Think back to 1978 people... It's freakin' FOGHAT for free, 10 minutes from your house...and you're standing in the front row...C'MON!!!   Don't bogart the doobie, man.

Me and Craig MacGregor of Foghat at the post-show meet and greet.  One of my all-time favorite bass players.  He seemed shocked and appreciative when I told him "Tight Shoes" was my all-time favorite Foghat album, and his funky slap-bass on "Stranger In My Home Town" killed!
