Willis Dean Kapayou, 53, of Marshalltown and formerly of Tama, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 in Marshalltown. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Monday, December 30, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Morgan Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama with Michael Keahna as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Sunday evening, December 29, 2013 at the Fox Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama.

 

Willis was born on May 18, 1960, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Rosalind Kapayou Youngbear. He graduated from Marshalltown High School. Willis was formerly an iron worker. Willis enjoyed traveling to Key West, Florida and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes on TV. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends. Survivors include a son, Derrick Kapayou of Des Moines; a daughter, Linsey (Brian) Delgado of Hammond, IN; his grandson, Evan Marcus Delgado; two sisters, Jeanette Youngbear of Tama and Laureen Puentes of Montour; one brother, James Youngbear of Tama; and two aunts, Georgia Keraghan of Toledo, and Angelina Kapayou of Tama. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, George Edwin Kapayou Sr.; his grandmother, Fannie (Benson) Kapayou; his mother, Rosalind (Kapayou) Youngbear; a brother, Robert George Youngbear, and an uncle, George Kapayou Jr.
