Aaron Hetzel

Aaron J. Hetzel, 29, a former account manager for Zebra Technologies Corp., died of cancer Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, in his Oceanside, Calif., home. Mr. Hetzel was a defensive lineman of the year at his high school in Tomahawk, Wis., his family said. Known as A.J., Mr. Hetzel also enjoyed water skiing and performed in shows put on by the Kwahamot ski club in Tomahawk when he was in high school, his family said. Mr. Hetzel graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire, where he majored in marketing, according to his wife, Lisa, whom he married in 1994. He went to work for Wallace Computer Services in Appleton, Wis., and moved to Arlington Heights in 1995 after he was promoted to regional product manager. He later worked for Zebra Technologies in Vernon Hills. A die-hard Green Bay Packers football fan, Mr. Hetzel felt a bit out of place in Chicago Bears territory so he formed the Packer Fans Stuck club in Chicago, his wife said. Mr. Hetzel and his wife moved to California earlier this year after he accepted a job as regional sales manager for Intermec Corp. "Anything that he put his mind to he usually got," his wife said. Mr. Hetzel was a vibrant and energetic guy who made friends easily, according to his family. "He just had a really big heart," his wife said. "He was really . . . the type of person that people are just drawn to." Other survivors include his parents, Mary and Alan; two brothers, Bret and Corey; his maternal grandparents, Lester and Goldie Henke; and his paternal grandparents, Howard and June. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Christ Lutheran Church, Marshfield, Wis.
