It is hard to believe to this day that Ann died so very young. She was a beautiful person and had a large impact on many people during her short time on this earth.
Laura Ann Haworth died on May 21, 1958. Ann and I shared the last stand in the second violin section when we first played with the MHS Orchestra in 1955. Much of the time we were lost and just sat holding our violins upright on our laps to feel the vibrations of the tympani located behind us. We laughed so much!
I last saw Ann a week before she died when the two of us played double pianos with the orchestra at the spring concert. It was discovered after her death that she had had encephalitis.
Ann came to me at the county fair in August before school started, and introduced herself and asked me since I didn't have many friends in the High School, except the one's from Green Twp. to be her locker partner.
I'll never forget what a good friend she was! It made my freshman year a great year, because everyone loved Ann. I went to her house every Friday night before the football games, her Mom always had pop and snacks for us, and wanted to hear all about our day. My Mom being on the farm was always so busy, we never talked about our day until supper time.
