Michael Allen Obituary

Michael D. Allen, 77, passed away on July 31,2024, peacefully at his home with his daughter and son-in-law by his bedside (Amy and Ray Goode). Michael was born on March 1, 1947, in Martinsville Indiana, to the late Gorden Allen and Annabelle (Ferguson) Stout. His mother, Annabelle had later remarried, Lester Stout, who played a big role in the four boys' lives, as Gorden also did. Michael was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather; brother, Jimmy Dean Allen; and a sister-in-law, Lynne Ellen Allen. Michael is survived by a daughter, Amy Michelle (Allen) Goode and her Husband, Shellie Ray Goode AKA MICHAEL'S RIDE OR DIE of Scottsburg, Indiana; a son, Brian Keith Allen of Indianapolis, Indiana; two brothers, David Brian Allen of Noblesville, Indiana and Lloyd Eugene Allen; and his grandchildren, Trenton Clay Carr, Trevor Michael Carr, Trey Wesley Carr, Shellie Goode, Bryan Goode, Muverik Burgess and Nora Bryant. Michael was also survived by his nephews, Jason Allen and his wife Courtney Allen, Josh Allen and his partner Mary, Sosbe Ogden, Jeremiah Allen and his wife Liz Lyons and one Niece, Olivia Grace Allen.
Michael enlisted in the United States Army and was sent to Vietnam from 1965 to 1968, where he received a National Defense Vietnam service award. Michael also received a Foreign Expositional Service ribbon. After returning home from Vietnam, Michael enlisted into the National Guard on weekends. He then went to work for International Harvester (Navistar) where he retired. Michael also worked for Pepsi INC, Scott County Sheriff's Office, and lastly, he was a greeter at Waffle House in Scottsburg, where he was awarded best Waffle House Greeter. After Michael became ill, he was no longer able to work. It was found that Michael had Lewy body dementia, and Parkinson disease caused by agent orange during his time in Vietnam. Cremation services have been entrusted to the caring staff at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Burial and a memorial service will be held at a later date at Indiana Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
