Kyle Ashbrook

Morton Kyle Ashbrook, 68

MAY 5, 1944—NOV. 2, 2012

MARTINSVILLE — Morton Kyle Ashbrook, 68, a longtime resident of Martinsville, passed from this life on Friday, November 2nd, 2012 at 2:37 p.m. at the IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Kyle, as he was known, was born on May 5, 1944, in Harlan County, Kentucky, to the late Vincent Ashbrook and Ethel (Fins) Ferguson. He moved to Morgan County as a young man and graduated from Martinsville High School with the class of 1965.

He worked for many years at Allison’s in Indianapolis before retiring and going back to work for the Martinsville City Street Department. Kyle held memberships at the Martinsville Elks Lodge #1349, V.F.W. Post #1257, Moose Lodge #1127 and the American Legion Post #230. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, golf, fish and camp.

Kyle will be sadly missed by his loving family including his former wife and lifetime companion, Donita (Albertson) Ashbrook of Martinsville; daughters, Jodi Ashbrook Edwards of Indianapolis and Tobi Ashbrook Berkholz of Martinsville; brother, Robert Ashbrook of Plainfield; sister, Monette (husband, Lynn) Hagarman of Bakerville, FL; four grandchildren, Jaci and Jandi Lester and Taylor and Kennadee Berkholz; one great-granddaughter, Lyrah Short; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herman, Bill, Dicky, Jerry Ashbrook and two others; and his sisters, Betty Dotson and two others.

Family and friends are encouraged to attend a gathering celebrating Kyle’s life on Friday, November 9th, from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Martinsville V.F.W. Post #1257.

The family requests that contributions be made in his memory to Mooseheart Charities, 155 S. International Drive, Mooseheart, IL 60539 and/or the Ashbrook family to help defray expenses.

Rest in peace Kyle "bumps".  One of my old buddies.  After I moved to Missouri I didn't keep contact but usually managed to run into you at the Leagion Hall.  You are missed.
