Rick Martindale

Richard Duane “Rick” Martindale, 66 DEC. 10, 1946 — OCT. 23, 2013 MARTINSVILLE — Richard Duane “Rick” Martindale, 66, Martinsville, passed away at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at his residence. He was born on Tuesday, December 10, 1946, in Martinsville, Indiana, to the late Harold and C. Virginia (Burns) Martindale. Rick was a 1965 graduate of Martinsville High School. He was a machinist at International Harvester, which later became Navistar, and retired in 2006. Rick was also in the Indiana National Guard for 30 years and retired in 1995 as a Command Sergeant Major. He was a member of the UAW Local #98 and was a life member volunteer fireman at Madison Township and Green Township. He served as the fire chief at Green Township Fire Department for several years. Rick is survived by his wife, Linda Carol (Groseclose) Martindale, whom he married on November 2, 1968; son, Lucas Andrew Martindale of Martinsville; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Lingle and husband Adam of Muncie; siblings, Ron Martindale, Bob Martindale and Anita Ennis; grandchildren, Katelynn Lingle, Noah Lingle, Luke Martindale and Grace Martindale. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Costin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Norman Ward officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, October 25, 2013, at Costin Funeral Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral service. There will be no burial; Rick will be cremated after the services. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for contributions made to ICM Mike’s Mission in care of Eastview Christian Church, 2745 Old Morgantown Road, Martinsville, Indiana, 46151.
