David Swinney

MARTINSVILLE — David A. Swinney, 64, of Martinsville, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, November 11, 2011, at the Gosport Nursing Home.

David was born into the home of the late Richard V. and Mary M. (Peace) Swinney on March 5, 1947, in Indianapolis. He was a truck driver for Majestic Block and delivered concrete blocks to many homes constructed in the area. David was a farmer for many years. He was a board member for WRE and served the Emmaus Walk. He was a member of the New Life Christian Church in Paragon.

He was preceded in death by not only his parents, but his siblings, James Swinney, Elmer Swinney and Anna Mae Bain.

David is survived by his loving wife, Jackie (Swafford) Swinney; children, Marla Donaldson of Cincinnati, Melissa Ice (Michael) and Richard L. Swinney, both of Martinsville; grandchildren, David James Ice, Richelle Swinney, Jason Swinney, William Swinney, Keegan Swinney, and Devin Swinney; and brother, Ronald Swinney (Mary) of Ellettsville.

Funeral services will be held at New Life Christian Church in Paragon at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, with Pastor Kenneth Mitchell officiating. Burial is to follow at Swafford Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at New Life Christian Church on Monday, November 14, 2011, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services.
